Austin Mack Commits to University of Washington

The Washington Huskies secured a huge commitment for their 2023 recruiting class with the signing of 4-star quarterback Austin Mack. Mack chose Washington over offers from Pac-12 rivals Oregon, Oregon State, Cal, Stanford, and Arizona. The California recruit is stepping up and helping fill Washington’s position shortage. With his commitment, the team will have three scholarship quarterbacks on its roster. Head coach Kalen DeBoer has done a great job building a quarterback room for the foreseeable future.

Standing at 6’6 and 210 pounds, Mack is currently ranked as the 8th best quarterback in the 2023 recruiting class per 247 SportsWith a powerful arm and impressive size, Mack has the necessary skills to have a breakout college career that can lead to him becoming a future NFL prospect.

His ability to move quickly through the pocket and know exactly where his wide receivers will be has helped fuel his success. During his junior year at Folsom High School, Austin Mack threw for 3,500 yards and 40 touchdowns, while leading his team to a 12-2 record and a deep CIF title run.

While Mack was originally in Washington's 2024 recruiting class, the highly skilled quarterback sacrificed his senior year of high school to graduate early and join the Washington roster for the fall 2023 season. Although he has enjoyed his high school career, he is ready to play for the Huskies.

While Mack does plan on “red-shirting” for his first year, while he learns from starter Michal Penix Jr, he will do amazing things for the Washington football program when his time comes.

Overall, this recruiting class proves that it will be an excellent season for the Huskies, who hope to compete in the Pac-12 championship game and beyond.
